PrimerPilot

PrimerPilot is a web app (with optional desktop companion via Electron) for plant genetics labs that design PCR/qPCR primers and genotyping assays with fewer failed experiments. Users paste a target sequence or upload a FASTA, pick a species/reference, and the app proposes primer pairs with predicted specificity, melting temperature, secondary structures, and likely off-targets. It also supports common plant genotyping workflows: SNP/indel assays, CAPS/dCAPS suggestions, and multiplex compatibility checks. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional algorithms handle thermodynamics and alignment, while an AI layer explains tradeoffs, flags risky designs (repeats, polyploid ambiguity), and suggests alternative regions when the target is messy. It exports ready-to-order primer sheets and bench-ready protocols. Brutal truth: labs already have tools, but many are clunky, fragmented, and error-prone; the win is reducing wasted reagents and time, not novelty.
