ProduceProof is a mobile app that helps shoppers pick better fruits and vegetables in-store by turning quick observations into a simple freshness score. You scan the price/PLU label or type the item, then answer 3–5 fast prompts (firmness, aroma, color, visible damage) and optionally snap a photo. The app returns a “buy now / buy later / avoid” recommendation plus storage tips and an estimated days-to-ripeness window. It also tracks what you bought and nudges you when items are likely to spoil, suggesting recipes to use them up. The core value is reducing wasted produce and disappointing purchases without requiring special hardware. It’s realistic: accuracy improves over time via aggregated user feedback and retailer/region context, but it won’t be perfect—some items will still be unpredictable. Monetization is a low-cost subscription plus optional affiliate links for meal kits/recipes.
