PromptBack

PromptBack is a mobile + web journaling app that turns your past entries into short, scheduled “memory prompts” so you actually revisit what you wrote. Instead of pushing you to journal daily (most people won’t), it focuses on retrieval: it resurfaces a tiny snippet from an old entry, asks one follow-up question, and lets you add a 30-second update. Over time, it builds a lightweight “then vs now” thread for recurring themes like relationships, health, work stress, and goals. It includes strict privacy controls (local-first option, encryption, export) because journaling apps lose trust fast. This is an AI-assisted app, but AI is optional: you can use simple keyword-based resurfacing if you don’t want analysis. Realistically, the biggest challenge is retention—so the product is designed around minimal effort and high emotional payoff rather than long-form writing.
