ProofBudget

ProofBudget is a web + mobile app for participatory budgeting that doesn’t stop at voting. Residents propose projects, discuss tradeoffs, and vote, but the core value is post-vote accountability: each winning project gets a public “proof trail” of milestones, invoices, photos, permits, and change orders. City staff upload documents (or connect procurement systems), and residents can subscribe to updates, flag inconsistencies, and see simple progress dashboards. The app includes plain-language summaries of budgets and timelines so non-experts can understand what’s happening without reading PDFs. It’s realistic: many municipalities already run PB, but trust collapses when projects stall or costs change. ProofBudget focuses on the unglamorous follow-through that governments struggle to communicate. Expect slow sales cycles and heavy compliance needs, but if you land a few cities, retention can be strong because the platform becomes part of the public record.
