ProofThread

ProofThread is a web app (with a lightweight mobile-friendly embed) that replaces generic comment boxes with a “claim + evidence” format. When someone posts, they must choose a claim type (opinion, experience, factual) and optionally attach a source link; factual claims get a visible “needs citation” badge until a source is added. Readers can challenge a claim with a structured prompt (what’s wrong: accuracy, context, relevance) instead of free-form dunking. Moderators get a queue prioritized by risk signals (rapid pile-ons, repeated unsupported factual claims, brigading patterns) and can apply actions that are transparent to users (hide-until-cited, rate-limit, or lock subthreads). It won’t magically fix toxic communities, but it can measurably reduce low-effort misinformation and repetitive fights on publisher sites, docs portals, and SaaS communities where signal matters.
