ProtoEthic
ProtoEthic is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that helps research teams pre-screen study protocols for common ethics and compliance risks before submission. Users answer structured prompts about population vulnerability, consent flow, incentives, data handling, deception, recruitment channels, and adverse-event plans. The app generates a concise “Ethics Risk Snapshot” with flagged issues, suggested mitigations, and links to institution-agnostic guidance (not legal advice). It also provides a versioned checklist and a collaboration workflow so PIs, coordinators, and students can resolve items and export a clean summary for IRB packets. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI proposes risk flags and rewrite suggestions, while deterministic rules enforce consistent coverage. The goal is reducing avoidable back-and-forth and preventing protocol mistakes that waste weeks. Realistically, it won’t replace IRBs; it just helps teams submit higher-quality materials faster.
