ProvenancePad
ProvenancePad is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for special-collections teams to record, verify, and publish provenance and custody history for rare books, manuscripts, artifacts, and archival materials. It replaces ad-hoc notes, email threads, and inconsistent database fields with a structured, evidence-first timeline: owners, transfers, appraisals, exhibitions, conservation events, and supporting documents. An AI assistant helps extract entities and dates from scanned letters, dealer invoices, and accession files, but every claim must be linked to a source and approved by staff. The app generates clean, shareable provenance summaries for researchers and internal audit-ready reports for compliance. Realistically, it won’t “solve” provenance gaps—many records are incomplete—but it will make what you do know defensible, searchable, and consistent across the collection.
