ProvenancePad

ProvenancePad is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for historians and local researchers who constantly juggle claims, partial evidence, and contradictory sources. It lets you create “claims” (e.g., a birth date, land transfer, event detail), attach multiple sources, and score each source’s reliability with a simple rubric (primary/secondary, proximity, bias, transcription quality). The app then generates a transparent evidence trail and highlights what’s missing: which claims rely on a single weak source, where two sources conflict, and what type of record would best resolve the gap. It also supports structured citations, page/folio tracking, and linking people/places across projects. This is not a magic “AI writes history” tool; it’s a practical research workflow system that reduces errors, improves auditability, and makes it easier to hand off a project to collaborators or future you.
