QuietQuota

QuietQuota is a mobile + web app for classrooms that turns “be quieter” into a measurable, fair system. Using a phone or cheap tablet mic, it tracks overall room volume and assigns each class a daily “noise budget” with clear thresholds (instruction, group work, transitions). Teachers can set schedules, sensitivity, and quick context buttons so the meter doesn’t punish productive discussion. Students see a simple live status (green/yellow/red) plus a class progress bar toward rewards the teacher defines. The key is accountability without shaming: the app avoids individual audio recording, stores only decibel summaries, and provides post-class reports showing when spikes happen (e.g., transitions, lining up). It also includes a lightweight routine builder (call-and-response cues, countdowns) tied to noise events. Realistically, it won’t fix weak classroom culture alone, but it can make expectations consistent and reduce teacher vocal strain.
