QuoteCheck
QuoteCheck is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that helps sports fans, journalists, and social teams verify whether a quote, clip caption, or “report” is real. Users paste a quote or upload a screenshot; the app searches trusted sources (official transcripts, press conference videos, beat reporter articles, league PR feeds) and returns a confidence score with citations and timestamps. It also flags common misinformation patterns (fake graphics templates, recycled old quotes, parody accounts) and shows the earliest known appearance of the claim. This is an AI-assisted product, but it’s intentionally conservative: it won’t “guess” if it can’t find evidence. Alerts can be set for teams/players so users get notified when a trending claim lacks sourcing. The goal is to reduce embarrassing retweets and improve credibility, not to replace reporting.
