QuoteProof
QuoteProof is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that helps journalists verify and document quotes before publication. It records consented interviews, generates time-stamped transcripts, and lets a reporter highlight a quote and attach the exact audio snippet as evidence. The app then creates a “quote packet” (audio clip, transcript segment, speaker label, date/time, and consent log) that can be shared internally with editors or stored for legal review. It also flags risky areas: unclear attribution, paraphrase vs. direct quote mismatches, and missing consent metadata. This is not a magic truth machine—if the recording is bad or the source lies, it can’t fix that—but it dramatically reduces preventable quote disputes and editing back-and-forth. The goal is fewer corrections, fewer angry follow-ups, and a cleaner audit trail when stories get challenged.
