RackAR

RackAR is a spatial computing assistant for data center and network technicians. Using a phone or tablet, it overlays rack layouts, port labels, and step-by-step work instructions directly onto the physical equipment. Technicians scan a rack QR/NFC tag, and the app anchors a 3D “digital twin” to that location so the right device and port are unambiguous. It supports common tasks like patching, replacing a failed drive, tracing cables, and verifying port connections with photo evidence. Managers get an audit trail, time-on-task metrics, and fewer costly mistakes. This is realistic because it doesn’t require perfect full-room mapping; it focuses on rack-level anchoring and structured workflows. It’s not a consumer AR toy—it's a narrow, high-value tool that saves minutes per ticket and prevents outages caused by human error.
