RailCrowd

RailCrowd is a mobile + web app that predicts train car crowding in real time and recommends where to stand on the platform for the fastest, least-packed boarding. It blends official GTFS-realtime feeds (where available) with anonymous, opt-in phone sensor signals (motion + Bluetooth density) and quick rider check-ins to estimate load by car and by door zone. Users see a simple “best boarding zone” map, crowding forecasts for the next 30–60 minutes, and alerts when a usually-quiet train is suddenly slammed due to disruptions. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional for routing/UX and AI for crowd estimation, anomaly detection, and short-horizon forecasting. Monetization is realistic: B2B pilots with agencies (reduce dwell time, improve passenger distribution) and a small B2C premium tier for power commuters (alerts, favorites, accessibility-friendly boarding guidance).
