RateRoute is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that calculates the true cost of a trip by combining live fuel prices, EV charging prices, expected consumption, and detour time. Instead of guessing whether it’s worth stopping at a cheaper station or charger, it shows the net savings after accounting for extra miles, traffic, and your vehicle’s real-world efficiency. Users connect their car via OBD-II (or enter manual MPG/Wh-per-mile), pick preferences (avoid tolls, minimum charger power, brand exclusions), and get a ranked list of “cost-optimal” routes with recommended stops. It also tracks your actual cost-per-mile over time and flags when a station/charger’s pricing is consistently misleading versus competitors. This is not a budgeting app; it’s a decision app for the next drive, where the money is won or lost.
