ReadCoach

ReadCoach is a mobile app (tablet-first) that helps parents and teachers run short, structured read-aloud sessions while capturing real evidence of early literacy growth. The adult reads a picture book (their own or from the in-app library) and the child answers quick, playful prompts: point-to-word, rhyme choice, beginning sound, and simple retell. The app uses on-device speech recognition to detect whether the child can say target sounds/words and flags likely issues (e.g., persistent phoneme confusion) without pretending to “diagnose.” It then generates a simple weekly report: skills practiced, what the child struggled with, and 3 next activities that take under 5 minutes. It’s realistic about attention spans: sessions are 6–8 minutes, not 30. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional lesson flow with AI-assisted listening and progress summaries.
