RealCart
RealCart calculates a personalized inflation rate based on what you actually buy, not national averages. Users connect email/retailer accounts (or forward e-receipts) and optionally scan paper receipts. The app normalizes items (e.g., “2% milk 1 gal” across brands/stores), tracks price-per-unit, and shows how your basket’s cost changes week to week and year to year. It flags stealth inflation (shrinkflation) by detecting size changes, and suggests cheaper equivalent swaps (same category, similar nutrition/attributes) without pretending it can magically beat every store. A simple dashboard translates price changes into purchasing-power impact: “Your grocery basket is up 9.4% YoY; to break even you’d need +$312/month.” It’s a consumer tool first, not an investing app, and it stays useful even if CPI headlines are noisy.
