RecallChef is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that turns food safety and freshness into a simple, trackable system. You scan grocery receipts or barcodes, then the app builds a “use-by timeline” based on official guidance (USDA/FDA), product type, and your storage location (fridge/freezer/pantry). It sends alerts before items become risky, suggests the fastest recipes to use expiring ingredients, and generates a shopping list that avoids duplicates. The “smart kitchen” angle is practical: it integrates with supported smart fridges via inventory export (where available) and works without them using receipt scanning. This is not a magic AI chef; it’s a safety-first tracker with AI only where it helps (parsing receipts, matching products, and generating simple meal ideas). It’s realistic, reduces waste, and prevents the common “is this still okay?” uncertainty.
