RecallRadar

RecallRadar is a mobile + web app that tracks food recalls and safety alerts and matches them to what you actually buy. Users scan receipts or connect a Gmail/Outlook inbox to detect e-receipts from major retailers, then the app monitors official recall feeds (FDA, USDA FSIS, CFIA, EU RASFF) and pushes targeted alerts when a purchased product is affected. It also supports barcode scanning for pantry items, lot/date code capture via camera, and a simple “What to do now” checklist (return, discard, symptoms to watch, contact info). This is not a glamorous space, but it’s a real problem: most people hear about recalls late (or never), and generic news alerts are too broad to act on. The MVP focuses on accuracy, speed, and clear guidance rather than recipes or nutrition.
