ReceiptCheck

ReceiptCheck is a web + mobile AI-assisted news verification tool that turns any article, tweet, or screenshot into a “claim list” with linked evidence. Users paste a URL or upload an image; the app extracts key factual claims, finds primary sources (official documents, transcripts, datasets, court filings), and assigns a confidence score with clear reasoning. It highlights where an outlet may be editorializing, omitting context, or relying on a single anonymous source. The goal is not to declare “true/false” like a judge, but to show receipts fast and transparently so readers can decide. A browser extension adds one-click checks while reading and flags recycled stories or identical wire copy across publishers. Monetization is subscription (power users, journalists, educators) plus team plans for newsrooms and comms teams. Brutal reality: accuracy and trust are everything—one high-profile mistake can damage the brand.
