ReceiptCO2
ReceiptCO2 is a mobile + web app that estimates the carbon footprint of your grocery shopping by scanning receipts or importing e-receipts from major retailers. It maps items to a transparent emissions database, flags the biggest “carbon hotspots” (beef, cheese, air-freighted produce, etc.), and suggests realistic swaps based on what you already buy and what’s available seasonally in your region. It also tracks progress over time and shows the tradeoff between emissions, price, and nutrition at a simple “basket level,” not just per item. This is not magic: receipt item names are messy and carbon data is imperfect, so the app shows confidence scores and lets users correct matches to improve future scans. The goal is actionable, low-friction behavior change without requiring manual food logging.
