ReceiptRater is a mobile + web app for restaurant reviews that require proof of visit. Users snap a receipt (or connect a card via Plaid) to unlock the ability to rate that specific restaurant and menu items. Reviews focus on concrete, comparable details—portion size, wait time, dish accuracy, price paid, and whether the photo matches what was served—so ratings are less hype and more evidence. The app aggregates “verified” scores by dish, time of day, and party size, helping people avoid bad experiences and helping good restaurants stand out without gaming. For restaurants, a lightweight dashboard shows verified feedback trends and repeat issues (e.g., cold fries at lunch, slow service on weekends). Monetization is a subscription for restaurants plus optional promoted placements that are clearly labeled and only available to venues with high verified scores.
