ReceiptRecon

ReceiptRecon is a web app (with optional mobile capture) that uses OCR plus layout understanding to turn messy receipts and invoices into accounting-ready transactions, then matches them against imported bank/credit-card statement lines. Instead of just extracting text, it focuses on reconciliation: merchant normalization, tax detection, tip handling, split payments, and duplicate detection. Users upload PDFs or forward email receipts; the system proposes matches with confidence scores and flags exceptions (missing receipt, ambiguous totals, foreign currency, partial refunds). Export supports QuickBooks/Xero-friendly CSV and basic rules (e.g., map merchants to categories, auto-approve under a threshold). Brutal reality: OCR alone is commoditized; the value is in reducing manual bookkeeping time and audit headaches. The MVP should target small businesses and bookkeepers who live in spreadsheets and hate chasing receipts.
