Reciept is a web + mobile AI recommendation layer that sits on top of your streaming, podcast, and reading services and explains why you’re being shown something—then lets you change it. Instead of a black-box feed, you get a “preference ledger” built from explicit sliders (mood, pacing, novelty, length), quick thumbs, and optional imports (Spotify/Netflix/YouTube history). Every recommendation comes with a short, human-readable receipt: which signals mattered, what it’s optimizing for (comfort vs discovery), and what you’d need to change to get different results. The app also offers controlled exploration: weekly “safe bets,” “adjacent picks,” and “wildcards,” with a budget you set so discovery doesn’t waste your time. Brutal reality: you won’t beat incumbents on catalog or raw ML; you win by giving users control and transparency that big platforms avoid because it hurts engagement metrics.
