RecordRuler
RecordRuler is a web app (with optional desktop add-in) for judges and clerks that turns a messy case record into a research-ready map. Users upload briefs, motions, key exhibits, and transcripts; the system builds a structured “record outline” with pinpoint citations, issues presented, and a timeline of procedural events. It then links each issue to relevant authorities and surfaces conflicts, standards of review, and jurisdiction-specific controlling cases. This is an AI-assisted tool, but it is designed for judicial use: every proposition is traceable to a source, and the app refuses to answer when it can’t cite the record or a verified authority. It also produces a draft bench memo skeleton (not a full opinion) with placeholders for judge-specific reasoning. Realistically, adoption depends on trust, so the product prioritizes audit trails, conservative outputs, and court IT constraints.
