RecycID

RecycID is a mobile + web AI app for materials recovery facilities (MRFs), recyclers, and small plastics processors to identify common polymers and contamination risk on the spot. Operators snap a photo of a part, flake, or bale label; the app combines visual cues with a short guided checklist (flexibility, translucency, burn/float test results if available) to output a probability-ranked polymer guess (PET/HDPE/PP/PS/PA/ABS, etc.) and a “do/don’t” routing recommendation. It also logs decisions, photos, and outcomes so supervisors can audit errors and retrain staff. The reality: perfect identification without spectroscopy is impossible; the app is designed to reduce obvious mis-sorts and standardize decisions, not replace lab-grade methods. Over time, it builds a facility-specific dataset of what actually shows up and where it should go, improving consistency and reducing costly rejected loads.
