RedactCap

RedactCap is a web + desktop app that generates transcripts and captions while automatically detecting and masking sensitive content (names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, account numbers, faces-on-screen text) before it ever leaves your device. It’s built for teams that must share recordings but can’t risk leaking PII in captions, searchable transcripts, or exported SRT/VTT files. Users upload a video/audio file or record a meeting, choose a compliance profile (HIPAA, FERPA, “internal only”), and get a transcript with redaction highlights and an audit log. Exports include redacted captions, a clean transcript, and a “sealed” original accessible only to admins. This is an AI app combined with traditional rules-based detection so it’s not purely probabilistic. Realistically, accuracy won’t be perfect; the product wins by making review fast and defensible, not by claiming zero leaks.
