RedactRail

RedactRail is a web app (with optional desktop uploader) that automates redaction and safe distribution of business documents like contracts, invoices, HR files, and customer support exports. Users upload PDFs, Word files, images, or email threads; the system detects sensitive entities (PII, PCI, PHI, bank details, secrets, internal project names) and applies consistent redaction rules by template, department, and jurisdiction. It generates a redaction report (what was removed, confidence, and why), keeps an immutable audit trail, and exports a “clean” version plus a share link with access controls and expiry. It’s a combination traditional + AI app: deterministic rules handle known patterns; AI assists with context-based detection and review suggestions. This is not glamorous software, but it’s a recurring compliance headache that teams keep paying for when they get burned by accidental disclosure.
