ReefTransect

ReefTransect is a web + mobile AI-assisted app that converts diver or ROV video into standardized reef survey outputs. Researchers upload footage, enter basic metadata (site, depth, date, camera), and the app auto-stabilizes video, extracts frames at fixed intervals, and generates a transect report: percent cover estimates (coral/algae/sand), species or morphotype suggestions with confidence, and a QA workflow for human validation. It exports to common research formats (CSV, Darwin Core-like fields) and creates an audit trail so results are defensible in publications. This is not a magic “identify everything” tool; it’s a time-saver that reduces manual frame scoring and keeps teams consistent across seasons. The MVP focuses on a few regions/taxa packs and prioritizes repeatable methodology over flashy but unreliable predictions.
