ReelClean

ReelClean is a mobile + web app that runs a “plastic buyback” program for small fishing fleets. Fishers log a trip, photograph and weigh collected marine plastic at port, and get paid per kilogram once verified. Ports and NGOs get a dashboard showing volumes by location, material type, and time, plus auditable payout records. The brutal reality: most cleanup apps fail because they rely on volunteers and vague awareness. ReelClean focuses on the only scalable lever—aligning incentives with people already on the water. It’s an AI-assisted app: computer vision flags obvious fraud (reused photos, mismatched weights, suspicious patterns) and helps classify plastic types for reporting. Revenue comes from sponsors (brands with EPR/CSR budgets), municipalities, and NGOs paying per verified kg and for reporting exports. This is not glamorous, but it’s operationally grounded and measurable.
