RentProof is a mobile + web app that helps renters avoid scams and dead-end “affordable” listings by verifying whether a unit is real, available, and plausibly priced. Users forward a listing URL, screenshot, or broker email; the app checks property records, ownership/management info, rental history signals, duplicate-photo matches, and known scam patterns. It generates a simple “Trust Score,” flags missing legally required disclosures, and suggests what to ask before paying any fee. For legitimate listings, RentProof provides a checklist and auto-generated message templates to request tours, confirm application requirements, and document everything. This is not a magic “find cheap rent” tool—inventory is the real constraint. The value is saving time, money, and stress by filtering out fraud and bait-and-switch listings and by standardizing due diligence for low-income renters who can least afford mistakes.
