RentRipple

RentRipple is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for city economic development teams and planners to monitor neighborhood rent pressure and displacement risk using near-real-time signals. It ingests rental listings, eviction filings, property sales, short-term rental density, and transit/project announcements, then turns them into simple “pressure indices” at the census-tract or corridor level. The product is not a magic crystal ball: it won’t perfectly predict displacement, and data gaps will exist. But it can reliably surface early warning patterns faster than quarterly reports and public dashboards. Users can set alerts (e.g., rent growth spikes, eviction clustering), generate briefings for council meetings, and compare scenarios (new rezoning, new station, major employer move). The goal is to help cities act earlier with targeted assistance, preservation funds, and policy interventions rather than reacting after residents are already priced out.
