RepoRoute

RepoRoute is a web app + browser extension that helps readers find a legal open-access version of a paywalled paper in seconds. Paste a DOI/URL/citation and it searches trusted sources (Unpaywall, OpenAlex, Crossref, PubMed Central, arXiv, institutional repositories) and returns the best available PDF/HTML, plus a clean citation and license info. For librarians, it offers a dashboard to track “no OA found” requests, identify high-demand journals, and generate acquisition or author self-archiving nudges. It’s not a pirate tool: it only surfaces legitimate copies and clearly labels provenance and reuse rights. The product lives or dies on speed, accuracy, and low friction—so the UX is a single search box, a one-click “get full text” button, and a fallback workflow to request an author copy or interlibrary loan when OA doesn’t exist.
