RestoreDrill
RestoreDrill is a web + lightweight desktop agent that continuously verifies your backups by actually restoring them in an isolated sandbox and generating auditable evidence. Instead of trusting “backup succeeded” logs, it schedules restore drills (file-level, VM snapshots, database dumps), validates data integrity with checksums, and runs basic application health checks (service starts, DB opens, sample queries). It then produces a simple pass/fail report with timestamps, artifacts, and a compliance-ready PDF. The product focuses on SMB IT teams who can’t afford enterprise DR tooling but still get blamed when restores fail. It integrates with common storage targets (S3-compatible, Azure Blob, NAS) and popular backup tools via APIs or file watchers. This is not magic: it won’t fix a broken backup strategy, but it will expose failures early and reduce the “we found out during an outage” disaster.
