RetroFitCheck

RetroFitCheck is a web + mobile app that helps homeowners and small contractors validate whether green upgrades actually reduced energy use and carbon. Users connect utility accounts (electric/gas) or upload bills, then log retrofit events (insulation, heat pump, windows, air sealing, solar). The app normalizes consumption for weather using local degree-day data, flags suspicious “savings” claims, and produces a simple before/after report that can be shared with lenders, rebate programs, or skeptical household members. It also estimates payback ranges using local rates and highlights where savings are being erased (e.g., thermostat changes, added loads, poor commissioning). This is not a glossy “eco dashboard”; it’s a verification tool that makes retrofits measurable. The MVP focuses on a few utilities/regions and bill-upload OCR to avoid complex nationwide integrations early.
