RideWitness is a mobile app (with an optional web portal) that helps riders document and report safety incidents on public transit with credible, time-stamped evidence. When you feel threatened, you tap “Record,” and the app starts encrypted audio/video capture, logs GPS, vehicle/route context (manual entry or agency feed), and creates a tamper-evident incident package. You can choose to auto-upload to a secure vault, share a live “I’m recording” link with a trusted contact, or generate a standardized report for the transit agency or police. This is not a magic “prevent crime” app; it’s a practical tool to reduce he-said/she-said and speed up investigations. The web portal lets agencies or campus security review shared cases, request follow-ups, and export evidence with chain-of-custody metadata.
