RightsRadar
RightsRadar is a web app (with an optional lightweight mobile companion) that helps libraries and archives determine, document, and communicate copyright and reuse status for digitized collections. Staff upload basic metadata (creator, date, publication info, jurisdiction, acquisition notes) and the app guides them through a structured rights workflow, producing a defensible rights statement, risk rating, and public-facing reuse label. It also generates an audit trail: what was checked, what sources were consulted, and who approved the decision. The AI component accelerates research by extracting dates/names from scans, suggesting likely public-domain status, and drafting rights notes, but it never “decides” without human confirmation. Realistically, the value is operational: fewer takedown scares, faster digitization publishing, and consistent rights labeling across teams. It integrates with common collection systems via export/import rather than deep custom integrations at first.
