RightsRadar

RightsRadar is a web app (with optional browser extension) that helps institutional repository staff and researchers pre-flight deposits for copyright, license, and publisher-policy compliance. Users paste a DOI, upload an accepted manuscript, or enter basic citation details. The app pulls publisher policies, funder OA mandates, and license requirements, then generates a clear “deposit-ready” checklist: allowed version (AAM/VoR), embargo length, required statements, and recommended license. It flags common failure points (missing author agreement, third-party images, incompatible Creative Commons choices) and produces a short, auditable report that can be attached to the repository record. This is an AI + traditional app: AI is used to extract key rights clauses from uploaded agreements and to detect third-party content indicators, but the final guidance is grounded in policy sources and templates. It’s not a repository replacement; it reduces back-and-forth and takedown risk.
