RipenRight

RipenRight is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that helps households and small food businesses stop throwing away fresh produce by predicting ripeness windows and giving simple, actionable storage instructions. Users scan a receipt or barcode, or quickly log items (bananas, avocados, tomatoes, berries). The app asks a few context questions (current firmness, where it’s stored, room temperature) and then generates a “use-by best quality” timeline with reminders: move to fridge now, separate from ethylene producers, or accelerate ripening in a paper bag. It also suggests 3 fast recipes based on what will spoil first. This is an AI + traditional app: AI handles receipt parsing, ripeness estimation, and recipe matching; the rest is straightforward tracking and notifications. It’s realistic because it doesn’t require special hardware—just better decisions and timing.
