RoamShield

RoamShield is a mobile app that quickly grades nearby public Wi‑Fi networks for risk and usability before you join. It runs a lightweight, privacy-respecting set of checks (captive portal detection, DNS integrity hints, TLS interception signals, basic latency/jitter tests, and historical crowd reports) and returns a simple “Green/Yellow/Red” score with plain-English reasons. It also offers a one-tap “Safer Mode” profile that nudges users toward HTTPS-only browsing, warns on suspicious certificate changes, and suggests using a VPN you already have (it won’t pretend to be a full security suite). The app’s core value is reducing wasted time and exposure: fewer dead networks, fewer sketchy hotspots, and fewer surprise captive portals when you just need to work. Monetization is realistic: a freemium model with a small subscription for advanced diagnostics, travel profiles, and team dashboards for small businesses.
