RuleTrace

RuleTrace is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for local governments, agencies, and regulated organizations to track the full lifecycle of rules: proposals, public comments, revisions, votes, effective dates, and enforcement guidance. It pulls updates from official sources (council agendas, gazettes, agency sites, and RSS/email bulletins), normalizes them into a single timeline, and alerts stakeholders when something changes. An AI layer summarizes long legal text into plain-language impact notes, highlights what changed between versions, and maps obligations to departments (e.g., procurement, HR, facilities). The product is intentionally narrow: it focuses on “what changed, when, and who must act,” not generic civic engagement. Expect messy data and edge cases; the app wins by being reliable, auditable, and fast to deploy, even if coverage starts with a limited set of jurisdictions.
