RunwayGuard
RunwayGuard is a mobile + tablet EFB app that adds a lightweight “sanity check” layer to aviation GPS taxi and departure workflows. It uses the aircraft’s GPS position, heading, airport geometry, and the pilot’s selected runway to warn when you’re lining up on the wrong runway, entering an active runway without clearance, or taxiing toward a closed/short runway. It’s not a replacement for certified avionics; it’s a practical safety net for GA pilots and flight schools using iPads. The MVP focuses on high-signal alerts with minimal nuisance: clear audio callouts, big on-screen cues, and a post-flight “near-miss” log for training debriefs. Realistically, adoption hinges on trust and low false alarms, so the app starts with a limited set of well-mapped airports and expands as data quality is validated.
