RuralRelay

RuralRelay is a mobile + web marketplace that lets rural residents request hard-to-get items/services (medicine pickup, spare parts, document delivery, small appliances) and matches them with vetted “urban runners” already traveling to nearby towns/cities. It focuses on the rural-urban divide where selection, price, and logistics are worse outside cities. Requests are posted with a photo/voice note (low literacy friendly), runners bid with all-in pricing, and escrow holds payment until proof-of-delivery (photo + OTP). The app supports offline-first posting and SMS/WhatsApp fallbacks for low connectivity. For cities, it’s a side-income micro-gig; for rural users, it’s a practical bridge to urban supply chains without needing personal contacts. The platform takes a fee per completed job and can partner with local shops as pickup/drop hubs.
