RuralRoam

RuralRoam is a mobile + web app that helps rural households, small ISPs, and community tech volunteers troubleshoot and improve internet access with practical, step-by-step playbooks. Users log their location, equipment (LTE router, fixed wireless CPE, Starlink, DSL), and symptoms (drops, high latency, weak signal). The app then guides them through realistic actions: optimal antenna placement, line-of-sight checks, channel selection, power/grounding basics, and low-cost network hygiene (QoS, bufferbloat checks). It works offline in the field and syncs when connectivity returns. For small WISPs and installers, it generates standardized site survey reports with photos, signal readings, and recommended parts lists. This is not magic: it won’t create coverage where none exists, but it can reduce repeat truck rolls and help people get the most out of the service they already have.
