SacredAtlas

SacredAtlas is a mobile + web app for Indigenous and traditional religion communities to document sacred places, seasonal access rules, and cultural protocols without leaking sensitive location data. It lets authorized custodians store site records with “fuzzy” geolocation (e.g., within a 10–50 km radius), attach oral-history audio, photos, and access conditions, and generate shareable permission letters for researchers, agencies, or developers. The app also supports incident logging (damage, trespass, artifacts) with time-stamped evidence and an exportable report pack for legal/advocacy use. Realistically, the product must be privacy-first and trust-driven: no public maps, no social feed, no “discover nearby sacred sites.” Revenue comes from organizational subscriptions (tribal councils, cultural heritage offices, NGOs) rather than individual users, because individuals won’t pay much and adoption requires institutional buy-in.
