SafetySOP

SafetySOP is a web + mobile app for makerspaces that standardizes tool access through quick, verifiable safety checkoffs. Instead of relying on paper sign-offs or inconsistent volunteer training, members complete short, tool-specific micro-lessons and pass a simple checklist quiz. Staff can require an in-person practical sign-off, then the app issues a time-limited “clearance” for that tool. When a user scans a QR code at the machine, the app confirms eligibility, shows the exact SOP, required PPE, and any current machine notes (e.g., broken guard, dull bit). Incident logging is built-in, with lightweight analytics to identify repeat issues and training gaps. This is not magic: it won’t prevent every accident, but it will reduce preventable misuse, improve documentation for insurance, and cut staff time spent repeating the same safety briefings.
