SampleChain

SampleChain is a mobile + web app for conservation genetics teams to track biological samples from field collection to lab processing and long-term storage with defensible chain-of-custody. Field staff scan QR labels, capture GPS, photos, permits, and metadata (species, individual ID hypothesis, collector, handling notes), and log every transfer event (cooler to courier to lab freezer). Labs can reconcile received samples, flag mismatches, and export standardized metadata packages for downstream analysis (e.g., genotyping, eDNA, WGS) without messy spreadsheets. An AI component auto-checks metadata completeness, detects suspicious duplicates, and suggests controlled-vocabulary values to reduce errors. This is not a genetics analysis platform; it focuses on the boring operational layer that repeatedly breaks projects: missing metadata, broken custody, and unusable samples. It’s designed for low-connectivity fieldwork with offline sync and audit trails.
