ScanGap

ScanGap is a web + mobile loss-prevention app that focuses on self-checkout “non-scan” risk without requiring expensive new camera hardware. It ingests existing POS/self-checkout event logs (item scans, voids, weight alerts, attendant overrides, time-per-item) and flags high-risk transactions and lanes in near real time. Managers get a simple queue of “review next” transactions with a short reason code (e.g., excessive overrides, abnormal scan cadence, repeated skip-bagging patterns) and a weekly shrink-risk report by store, lane, and attendant. It’s an AI + traditional app: AI is used for anomaly detection and prioritization, but the product stays usable with rules-only mode for retailers who distrust black-box models. The goal is operational: reduce shrink by focusing limited staff attention on the few transactions most likely to be fraudulent, rather than trying to watch everything.
