ScanSure

ScanSure is a mobile app for retailers running scan-and-go that focuses on the ugly problem everyone avoids: shrink from missed scans, barcode swaps, and “oops I forgot” items. Instead of trying to be another consumer scanner, it’s a store-ops tool that runs lightweight, randomized audits at checkout or exit. The app generates a risk score per basket using signals like item mix, price anomalies, scan speed, and known high-theft SKUs, then prompts staff for a quick re-scan of 2–6 items (not a full cart check). It integrates with the retailer’s POS/scan-and-go backend to compare scanned items vs. expected patterns and flags repeat offenders without being overly punitive. It’s realistic: it won’t eliminate theft, but it can measurably reduce it while keeping the scan-and-go experience fast for honest shoppers.
