SceneScout

SceneScout is a mobile + web app that helps parents quickly judge whether a movie, show, or YouTube video is actually age-appropriate—without relying on vague ratings. It provides time-stamped “scene notes” for common parent concerns (violence, bullying, sexual content, profanity, substance use, scary moments, medical scenes, self-harm references), plus a simple slider to match your household rules. Parents can search a title, see a clean summary, and jump straight to the exact timestamps to skip or pre-discuss. The app also supports “profiles” per child (e.g., 6-year-old sensitive to scary imagery; 10-year-old okay with mild action). It’s realistic: coverage will start limited and expand via community submissions with moderator review, because building a complete catalog is expensive. The goal is less arguing, fewer unpleasant surprises, and faster decisions at the TV remote.
