SceneSprout

SceneSprout is a mobile + web app that helps parents pre-screen kids and family TV episodes and movies and create “safe play” versions without awkward surprises. Users pick a title, then choose what to avoid (violence, needles, bullying, sexual content, intense peril, crude language, etc.). The app generates a time-coded skip/mute plan and can play alongside the TV as a companion remote: it vibrates before a moment and offers one-tap “skip 30s / mute 20s.” For supported platforms, it can integrate via playback controls (where allowed) or work as a second-screen guide when direct control isn’t possible. Community-submitted markers are reviewed, and parents can share profiles per child. It’s not perfect: coverage will start limited, and platform restrictions mean some services won’t allow automation. But even as a guide, it reduces the friction of family viewing.
